Linda Gallery Contemporary Chinese Art

Linda Gallery, established in 1990, specialises in contemporary Chinese art and Indonesian paintings. Being an active player in the industry for more than a decade, the gallery has held numerous exhibitions, featuring works by famous Chinese Contemporary artists, Indonesian maestros, Indo–European artists, as well as other South East Asian artists.

The gallery is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual art. 2009 is the 40th anniversary of Christo’s wrapping of Little Bay. It was the very first John Kaldor project and over the years the artists and curators Kaldor brought to Australia marked the most ambitious exposure of Australian audiences to international contemporary art. This exhibition and catalogue celebrates this history and launches its next phase.

Martin Kippenberger at MoMA Part II The Paintings

James Kalm returns with viewers to take a more concentrated look at Martin Kippenbergers estimable legacy as a painter. Receiving his first recognition in the late seventies as a painter and draftsman and despite the various projects and installations he engineered, Kippenberger maintained a consistent practice as a painter. This exhibition chronicles his graphic versatility as well as his masterful facility with the medium. These talents were incorporated in Kippengergers provocative challenge to the status quo and the art world establishment. Smithsonian Behind the Scenes: Contemporary Art Conservation

Latex, chocolate, soap, and video game software are just a few of the non-traditional materials that have inspired contemporary artists. While they embrace the modern, synthetic and technologically advanced world in which we live, some of materials present significant conservation problems for museum conservators. Gwynne Ryan, a conservator at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden discusses the challenges museums face with this issue: Should we keep art locked away to make it last? Or let it be experienced as it was intended while accelerating its natural degradation?
