He graduated in 1981 with a first class honours degree in fine art. ‘Wiz’, one of Ghana’s premier and well-regarded contemporary artists, may be thought of as a trans-cultural visionary. His work simultaneously draws on and pushes beyond fixed spaces and identities in a dynamic search for unbounded universal truths. He has designed and executed public works in Ghana including a relief mural at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. His works are widely held in both and public collections worldwide.
As Ghana celebrates fifty years of independence in 2007, the San Diego Museum of Man is partnering with artists from Ghana and Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) to showcase artistic expressions—paintings and sculpture—from accomplished African artists. Guest Curators Kwamina Ewusie, Peter Swaniker, and Joe Kinsella have selected a number of artists to participate, and the exhibit will feature their first-person narratives to describe their works.
