Oil painting demo – Onions – Jos van Riswick
Oil painting demonstration by dutch artist Jos van Riswick. This time with some footage of my setup. Painting time was about 4 hours, spread over 2 days. Medium was 2 parts liquin, 1 part linseed oil. The painting was in the fridge over night, to keep the paint wet.

Again a brilliant piece of artwork, thank you. Is that on board? Good tip about the fridge – I scoop up my palette paint and pop it in a container in the fridge (otherwise your food gets oil paint flavoured)!!

hi, hmm the food.. …
hi, hmm the food.. I didn’t put the food in the fridge so I don’t know.. ah now I realize that you must have food already in the fridge! (I only have paintings in the fridge in my studio). Hm yes but as for the food.. I don’t think it will harm the food a lot, as most turps evaporate very quickly while painting. You could put the painting in a plastic container to be on the safe side…

Nice! I’ve never heard of putting an oil painting in the fridge to keep it wet. Do you know if it affects the food at all? It sounds like a perfect solution, thanks for sharing
